Nick working in the Brisbane School of Hairdressing Advanced Salon

We would like to congratulate one of our very talented students Nick for winning the Queens Plaza Avant-Garde Design Competition! Nick prize includes his images displayed at QueensPlaza and the opportunity to assist style the Spring Summer 2010 QueensPlaza photo shoot, have their design on show in QueensPlaza for a month and fly to Sydney to meet Leona Edmiston.

Nick commenced his training at the Brisbane School of Hairdressing in May 2009 and has a background in fashion design. He wanted to add hairdressing to his skill set creating a total look for his models. It’s great that Nick won this competition as the prize will be invaluable to his career. Nick entered the competition with his photographic images of hairstyles he had created. The competition was rounded down to finalists among fashion, make up and hairdressing students, and Nick was made the overall winner, with his fierce red head model!

Nick has already landed a job at a local salon and has helped on photo shoots before, so we are confident that he will be extremely helpful at the Sydney photoshoot. One of the great things about studying at BSH is that students are able to participate in competitions and other community events. Nick also volunteered his time for the Shave-for-a-cure event on Queen Street Mall in March this year and will be doing an avant-garde design at the Career Expo on 7 May at the Brisbane Convention Centre from 1-1.15pm. Our students at the college gain so much hands on experience before they graduate which is why our students are so well regarded within the industry.

Congratulations again Nick, we wish you all the best of luck in the future with your hair styling and fashion designs.
