Course Description

This comprehensive course is the perfect introduction to the hairdressing industry, providing you with ca blend of theoretical that is supplemented by genuine hands-on experience with clients in our busy salon right here on campus. You will learn how to interact with customers professionally, provide assistance to senior colleagues and following workplace health and safety procedures while gaining specific industry skills.

Entry requirements

15 years of age and year 10 completed for full-time students.   VETiS is open to year 10 - 12 students in Queensland high schools.

Class Timetable

Part-time: 3 days per week – 24 Weeks or flexible delivery available – 50 – 60 days
High School pattern (VETiS): 1 day per week/School holiday blocks – 50 – 60 days

What is VETiS?

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is a program which enables students to gain nationally recognised qualifications while at school. Students learn skills and knowledge required for specific industries.



VETiS can be undertaken in years 10, 11 and 12, and can count towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.

VET training can also be undertaken while a young person is still enrolled at school through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT).

Where will it get me?

Upon completion of the Certificate II in Salon Assistant you’ll be qualified to seek employment as a salon assistant, receptionist or obtain an apprenticeship in the hairdressing and barbering industries. Credits for your hard work are also transferable to many of our other courses.
